The flywheel works with inertial resistance:
the stronger you generate the concentric phase, the more energy you have to absorb in the eccentric phase.
And that’s the difference.
- You don’t just produce force.
- You learn to brake and control it.
This allows us to:
– Increase muscle stimulation without the need for heavy external loads
– Work the eccentric phase more intensely
– Improve control, stability, and coordination
– Provide a very interesting stimulus at the tendon level
– Properly applied eccentric training is key for tendon tissue adaptation.
But it’s not automatic: it depends on how it’s programmed and executed.
That’s why the machine isn’t the important thing.
- Choose the right inertia
- Execute with proper timing (don’t brake too soon)
- Integrate it into a meaningful program
- At Odyssey, we don’t use tools because they’re trendy;
- we use them because they fit within a system.
If you understand the «why,» the training changes.
